OCALA, FL – An Ocala man died after his vehicle went off the road and crashed in Marion County early Tuesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A report by the Ocala StarBanner stated the victim was a 32-year-old man driving a Volkswagen Jetta north on County Road 315 near Northeast 135th Street sometime before 4:15 a.m.  As the vehicle approached a right-hand curve the driver veered left, going off the roadway and onto a shoulder.

The Jetta crashed into a wooden utility pole before striking a tree and coming to a stop.  The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.  No one else was in the car.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said one person died and four others were injured in a car crash in Marion County early Wednesday morning.

The Ocala StarBanner reported details of the accident, which occurred in the area of County Road 329 and Northwest 18th Avenue near North Marion Middle School sometime before 6:13 a.m.

According to the FHP, the driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt was going around a curve while headed west on County Road 329 when he veered off the road and onto the shoulder.

OCALA, FL – The Ocala Police Department said a bicyclist died after being hit by a vehicle Saturday evening.

Police posted details of the incident that took place near the 1400 block of Northwest 27th Avenue just north of Rural King just before 6:15 p.m.  Witnesses said a bicyclist was laying down stationary in the southbound travel lane next to his bike.

One driver swerved to the left to avoid hitting him, but another vehicle right behind hit the bicycle rider.  The victim, a 67-year-old man, was trauma-alerted to the hospital and was pronounced dead.

OCALA, FL – Rescue units were at the scene of a crash in Ocala Monday night that left two people injured.

In a Facebook post, Ocala Fire Rescue said its crews responded to E Fort King Street and NE 31st Avenue after reports of a vehicle fire just after 7 p.m.

Officials said a Toyota and a Nissan had been involved in an accident, with the Nissan rolling onto its side. Firefighters were able to stabilize the Nissan and removed the windshield to extricate the driver, who had been trapped inside.  The driver was transported to the hospital for evaluation, while the Toyota driver was also hospitalized.

OCALA, FL – One person was killed and three others injured in a collision at an intersection in Ocala Saturday evening, reports Ocala-News.

Police responded to the scene in the vicinity of NW 27th Avenue and NW 10th Street at about 9:45 p.m. An investigation indicated that a Hyundai Elantra and a BMW 228i were stopped at the intersection after approaching from opposite directions.

When the traffic pattern changed, both vehicles began to move forward.  The driver of a northbound Honda Pilot failed to stop, entered the intersection, hit the front of the Hyundai and then struck the BMW on the driver’s side.

OCALA, FL – Two vehicles were involved in a deadly head-on crash in Marion County last week, the Ocala StarBanner reports.

The accident occurred on State Road 40 near Northeast 118th Avenue Road, where first responders arrived at the scene at about 3:16 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a Hyundai Elantra was going west on SR 40 and swerved to avoid traffic that had slowed for a turning vehicle.  The Elantra crashed into a Hyundai Kona that was going east on the roadway.

MARION COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a man was killed in a pedestrian accident in Marion County on Thursday morning.

WKMG reports the man was standing in the eastbound lane of Juniper Road near Juniper Pass Drive in Ocala at about 7 a.m. when he was hit by an approaching vehicle.  It was not immediately clear why he was in the roadway.

The victim, a 63-year-old Ocala resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the car that hit him, a 17-year-old male from Ocala, was not injured.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A man died after his pickup truck was involved in a fiery crash in Marion County on Wednesday morning, state troopers said.

According to Ocala-News.com, the accident took place on SE 134th Place at about 9:30 a.m.  The Florida Highway Patrol said a 41-year-old man was driving south when his Dodge Ram pickup went off the roadway. The vehicle went through a fence and crashed into a tree before catching fire.

The driver, an Ocala resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

SUMMERFIELD, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said it is searching for the driver who left the scene of an accident in Marion County last week.

The Villages-News reports the incident took place Thursday on U.S. 301 near SE 142nd Place in Summerfield just before 3:30 a.m.   A man was riding a bicycle on the shoulder of northbound U.S. 301 when he was clipped by the mirror of a pickup truck.  The bicycle rider, a 42-year-old Summerfield resident, was seriously injured and taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.

The FHP said the driver of the pickup truck kept going north on U.S. 301 after the accident.  The vehicle being sought was described a 2019 white Ford.  The pickup’s right-side mirror was located at the scene.

OCALA, FL – A two-vehicle collision in Ocala Friday evening sent seven people to the hospital, the Ocala News reports.

Ocala Police, Ocala Fire Rescue, and Marion County Fire Rescue all responded to the scene in the area of W Silver Springs Boulevard and NW 30th Avenue just before 6:15 p.m.

Crews arrived to find that a pickup truck had collided with a compact sport utility vehicle. Rescue crews extricated a passenger from the SUV with the use of cutters and spreaders.  That person was taken to an area hospital as a trauma alert.  The driver of the SUV and five people in the pickup truck – two adults and three children – were also taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
